Terms of Service

Effective Date: 2026-05-18

Article 1 (Purpose)

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your use of the Alter mobile application (the "Service") operated by Minsik Kim (the "Operator", an individual sole proprietor). The Terms define the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of the Operator and the users.

Article 2 (Definitions)

  1. "Service" refers to the AI-powered personalized scheduling and notification mobile application provided by the Operator.
  2. "User" refers to anyone who agrees to these Terms and uses the Service.
  3. "Member" refers to a User who has completed registration via Apple Sign In.
  4. "Paid Service" refers to any subscription or other paid offering.

Article 3 (Posting and Amendment of Terms)

  1. The Operator makes the Terms available in-app under [Settings] > [Terms of Service] and on its website.
  2. The Operator may amend the Terms. Amendments will be announced at least 7 days before the effective date (30 days in the case of unfavorable changes for Users).
  3. Users may decline to agree to the amended Terms and terminate use of the Service by deleting their account.

Article 4 (Membership)

  1. Eligibility: Natural persons aged 14 or older.
  2. Process: Apple Sign In → consent to these Terms and the Privacy Policy → complete onboarding survey → account created.
  3. The Operator may refuse or terminate membership if:
    • The User has impersonated another person
    • The User has violated these Terms or applicable laws
    • The User has a history of abuse

Article 5 (Provision and Change of Service)

  1. The Operator provides:
    • AI-generated push notifications based on user survey responses
    • Apple / Google Calendar and Reminder integration
    • Learning and personalization adjustments based on notification responses
    • Weekly "What Alter Sees in You" reports with the ability to correct
    • Other ancillary services as determined by the Operator
  2. The Operator may change the Service for operational or technical reasons, with prior notice.
  3. The Service is provided 24/7, but may be temporarily suspended for maintenance, system failures, or force majeure events.

Article 6 (Paid Services and Auto-Renewing Subscriptions)

  1. Pricing for paid services is displayed in-app.
  2. Auto-Renewing Subscription Notice (Apple-compliant):
    • Subscriptions begin at the time of purchase.
    • If a free trial (7 days) is included, paid billing begins automatically when the trial ends.
    • Subscriptions auto-renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
    • Renewal is charged within 24 hours before the period ends.
    • Payment is charged to your Apple ID.
    • Manage / cancel subscriptions in [Apple ID Settings] > [Subscriptions].
  3. Price changes: The Operator may change prices with prior notice. Existing subscribers' renewal price is calculated as of the effective date of the change.
  4. Refunds are subject to Apple's refund policy. Refund requests must be made to Apple Support; the Operator cannot issue refunds directly.

Article 7 (User Obligations)

Users must not:

  1. Impersonate another person
  2. Infringe on the Operator's rights, reputation, or trade secrets
  3. Post obscene, illegal, discriminatory, or violent content
  4. Engage in technical activities that disrupt the Service (crawling, reverse engineering, automated bots, etc.)
  5. Abuse payment or refund mechanisms
  6. Violate any applicable laws

Article 8 (Operator Obligations)

  1. The Operator makes its best efforts to provide a stable Service.
  2. The Operator protects user data in accordance with its Privacy Policy.
  3. The Operator responds promptly to legitimate user feedback and complaints.

Article 9 (User Content)

  1. The copyright of user-generated content (notes, corrections) within the Service belongs to the User.
  2. Users grant the Operator a non-exclusive license to use such content for the purpose of operating and improving the Service. The Operator will not expose personally identifiable content externally.
  3. The Operator may remove content that violates these Terms, applicable laws, or others' rights, without prior notice.

Article 10 (Disclosure Regarding AI-Generated Content)

  1. The Service uses a Large Language Model (Google Gemini) to generate push notification copy and learning summaries.
  2. AI-generated text is for reference only and cannot substitute for professional advice in matters of fact, law, or medicine.
  3. Users may correct AI learning results at any time in the [What Alter Sees in You] screen.

Article 11 (Restrictions and Account Termination)

  1. If a User violates these Terms, the Operator may, with prior notice (or post-notice in urgent cases), suspend access temporarily or permanently terminate the account.
  2. Users may delete their account at any time via [Settings] > [Delete Account] in the app.
  3. Deletion while subscribed: Account deletion does NOT automatically cancel an App Store subscription. Users must separately cancel via [Apple ID Settings] > [Subscriptions]. The Operator is not responsible for renewal charges on subscriptions the User has not canceled.

Article 12 (Limitation of Liability)

  1. The Operator is not liable for Service interruptions caused by force majeure, war, communication failures, or system failures.
  2. The Operator is not liable for damages incurred by the User or third parties through use of the Service, unless caused by the Operator's intent or gross negligence.
  3. The Service is provided "as-is" without warranty of fitness for any particular purpose or accuracy.

Article 13 (Dispute Resolution and Governing Law)

  1. Disputes regarding these Terms or use of the Service will be resolved in good faith between the Operator and the User.
  2. If unresolved, disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Seoul Central District Court (Republic of Korea) as the court of first instance.
  3. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea.

Supplementary Provisions

These Terms take effect on 2026-05-18.
